i've never really given thought about how making places or routes accesible is very important until today's activity :D
having the load with us made us aware that there are not that many options to bring it to a different level. it was hard especially the hill part!

universal design caters to everyone's needs be it the normal or handsicapped.
i will try to make my future designs universally design friendly :D

    thank you! :D

Finally, I have understand how tough a handicaps push themselve in a not universal friendly design. However, too many ramp/ slope doesn't meant that this will be a universal friednly design.

To me, I think pusing yourself to the hill is much more easier then pusing yourself down, as you cant really control the speed of the wheels!

  3. The outdoor exerise opened my eyes for the work and effort a wheelchaired person have to face to get from point a to point b.Challanges like stairs, opening of doors or even go through a tight corridor which is easy for a normal human being are tough obstical for them.

thus i learn from this exerise that when designing, one have to think about using universal design so to allow all users of all ages to be able to enjoy the landscape fully

  5. Now i understand how the handicapped feels when there isn't any route for them to go.

Therefore in the future, we should think of them when we are designing.

  6. The exercise opened my eyes to the difficulty a handicapped person would go through just to get from point A to point B which would be simple for a normal person.

Universal design is a crucial factor in all the designs so as to be fair to everyone, and also ease movement.

  7. Elisha: I've always had a perception that universal design was just for handicapped people. But after the lecture, i realised that yes, it IS mainly for the handicapped, but as designers if we can design the space with a universal design, that can cater to the handicapped but at the same time create a nice design/facade of the place, it'd be a successful and good design.
